    "An Act relating to the duties of the attorney general; requiring the attorney general to participate in all actions affecting the management and jurisdiction of the natural resources of the state; amending Rule 24(c), Alaska Rules of Civil Procedure; and amending Rule 514, Alaska Rules of Appellate Procedure."

Section 1:  

Amends the duties of the attorney general by requiring the attorney general to participate in litigation that affects the management and jurisdiction of the natural resources of the state; requires the attorney general while participating in that litigation to ensure that that management and jurisdiction is not diminished or ceded to others; and permits the attorney general to enter into agreements to fulfill these requirements.


Section 2:
 

Requires that settlements of litigation be consistent with section 1 of the bill.


Section 3:
 

Amends Alaska Rule of Court Procedure 24(c ) by requiring notification of the attorney general when the management or jurisdiction of the natural resources of the state may be affected in litigation.


Section 4:
 

Amends Alaska Rule of Appellate Procedure 514(f) in a manner similar to that done in section 3 of the bill.
