On Friday I introduced an amendment increasing the minimum time Alaskans will have to review and comment on a proposed gas contract. The public comment period could be for at least 60 days, instead of a 30-day minimum. I am convinced Alaskans deserve a longer period of time to comment on the long-awaited contract. The proposed gas pipeline is a significant strategic commitment with long-term economic implications and we must get it right. The contract is tentatively scheduled for release on May 10, 2006.
Be aware... the amendment I introduced has not passed the full legislature, but I want to keep each of you informed as we progress on important issues here in Juneau. I invite your comments and advice.
