"It comes down to three core issues. Job creation and economic growth, continued educational opportunities for students as well as job training for the current workforce and supporting core family values."
- Sen. Ben Stevens
(Juneau) - This morning the Senate Majority started the second session of the 24th Legislature by announcing its three priorities for the year.
Senate President Ben Stevens (R- Anchorage) believes Alaskans want lawmakers to focus their efforts on advancing the fundamentals of good government. "It comes down to three core issues. Job creation and economic growth, continued educational opportunities for students as well as job training for the current workforce and supporting core family values."
"Every time we move those three issues forward we create a brighter future for all Alaskans. That's why Alaskans send us down here every January and my colleagues and I look forward to making it happen again in 2006." said Senate Majority Leader Gary Stevens (R - Kodiak).
The 121-day session runs from January 9th to May 9th.
