(JUNEAU) - The Alaskan House of Representatives overwhelming passed a resolution today, recognizing February 6, 2004 as Ronald Reagan Day in Alaska.
The resolution, sponsored by Representative Nick Stepovich (R-Fairbanks), calls for a celebration of the life of former two-term United States President Ronald Reagan, recognizing his service to this nation.
"We are talking about a great American. This transcends party lines," stated Rep. Stepovich in his floor speech.
The Representative later said, "President Reagan's leadership carried us through very difficult times in our country's history. He was a great leader, and one that I am sure a number of my colleagues admire. I'm pleased that we in the House of Representatives are recognizing his contributions to our nation."
Alaska will celebrate Ronald Reagan Day tomorrow, on the President's 93 birthday.
