(Juneau) - Medical experts are issuing a dire warning that for the first time in history, today’s children are not expected to outlive their parents due to chronic medical problems associated with obesity.
The Senate Health, Education & Social Services Committee will shed some light on the problem and examine prevention measures that can be taken this Wednesday at 1:30 pm. The committee will hear from the American Heart Association and members of the Municipality of Anchorage Obesity and Health Task Force.
Special guests include 2006 Olympic Bronze Medalist and Obesity Task Force member Rosey Fletcher, Robb Boyer PhD, Anchorage School District and Obesity Task Force member and Dr. Bob Urata, a family physician and President-Elect of the American Heart Association’s Pacific/Mountain Affiliate.
