(JUNEAU) - Sen. Ralph Seekins (R – Fairbanks) and representatives from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game and the Alaska Department of Revenue will discuss legislation to improve Alaska’s sport fisheries through a sport fishery enhancement surcharge during a brown bag luncheon on Friday, March 18, 2005.
The legislation pays for renovating two sport fish hatcheries in Anchorage and the construction of a new hatchery in Fairbanks. It also includes improvements for existing hatcheries in Southeast Alaska. This plan reduces the demand on wild fish stocks and increases recreational opportunities for Alaskans.
Reporters outside of Juneau can participate by calling the teleconference line at 1.800.395.5073
