(ANCHORAGE) - Earlier today, Representative Norman Rokeberg (R-Anchorage) participated in the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) Alaska Recovery Center in Anchorage.
Joined by Governor Frank Murkowski, Department of Health and Social Services Commissioner Joel Gilbertson and former State Representative Eldon Mulder, Representative Rokeberg was recognized for his role as the prime sponsor of HB 76 during 22nd Legislature. HB 76 authorized the funding for construction of the project.
"This building will facilitate the mission of API to help Alaskans in need of assistance in receiving high quality treatment and enable those people to return to their communities across the state," said Representative Rokeberg.
Representative Rokeberg joined the other speakers in thanking the numerous people and organizations that helped to bring the new facility to fruition and recognized the staff and leadership of the Institute for their dedication and efforts to better the lives of Alaskans.
Following speeches, dignitaries participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating the new Alaska Recovery Center.
