- Rep. Rokeberg
Dear Friends and Neighbors:
Do you know a young Alaskan who might be interested in an internship with investment management firms that manage money for the Alaska Permanent Fund?
Since 1988, the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC) has leveraged opportunities for qualifying Alaska college students to serve as interns both in Juneau with the APFC as well as throughout the US and UK with some of the Fund's portfolio managers. To date, over 200 Alaska students have held APFC internships, many of which resulted in permanent, high-paying jobs.
If you know some young Alaskan - some who may be attending school Outside - please tell them about these internships for the coming summer.
The APFC's intern program recruitment goes on from January through March and often as late as mid-April. All the information on the program can be found at http://www.apfc.org/ internships/internindex.cfm.
Around 25% of the interns have been hired directly from their internships to work in the firms that employed them. These positions are a true "leg up" in a very competitive industry. And while it is true that many of the positions are not in Alaska, this program develops investment talent among Alaskans who may someday return to this state to develop that industry.
Please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested in the program.
Best regards,
Norman Rokeberg
