"It is truly an honor to represent my colleagues and constituents at the White House."
- Rep. Ramras
(Fairbanks) - Representative Jay Ramras (R-Fairbanks) has been invited to attend a White House Policy briefing Tuesday, December 6th, in Washington D.C. The briefing will cover such subjects as Homeland Security, the War in Iraq and the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.
While in the nation's capital Representative Ramras will also attend the White House Chanukah reception. "I am very excited about the invitation to both the briefing and the reception," said Representative Ramras. "It is truly an honor to represent my colleagues and constituents at the White House." The invitation to the reception came as a result of State Republican Party Chair, Randy Ruedrich recommending Representative Ramras to the White House.
Representative Ramras added, "It is very nice to have the support of so many people this early in my political life, that I should receive this invitation. An opportunity to attend either a meeting or a reception at the White House is more than anyone could ask for in a lifetime, and to be so new to politics and be asked to attend both events is a little overwhelming. It is a chance for someone from Fairbanks to shake hands and speak directly with the President of the United States."
During his brief stay in Washington, Representative Ramras has also made appointments to meet with Senator Ted Stevens and Congressman Don Young. Senator Lisa Murkowski is not available as she will be in Alaska next week. "I have a very busy schedule in D.C. and plan to use my time wisely while there," Representative Ramras concluded.
