"I have already been in close contact with the administrators of these departments to learn how they operate, and what they want to accomplish."
- Rep. Ramras
(JUNEAU) - Representative Jay Ramras (R-Fairbanks) has been appointed to three Finance Subcommittee positions in his first year as a legislator. As Co-Chair of the House Resources Committee, Representative Ramras will review the budget and missions of both the Departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Game.
"I have already been in close contact with the administrators of these departments to learn how they operate, and what they want to accomplish. As a member of the Finance Subcommittees I hope to learn even more about these important parts of Alaska Government and how they work to make Fairbanks a better place to live," Representative Ramras said.
Representative Ramras went on to say, "I will also be serving on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Community and Economic Development. Resource development is an important economic stimulus in Alaska. So it only makes sense to review these budgets at the same time. These departments are an important part of creating and managing government and private sector ventures that create jobs. The subcommittees work will require additional time, but the recommendations that come out of these smaller panels are often the key to how the departments will run in the coming fiscal year."
Fairbanks fared very well on these three subcommittees with Representative Jim Holm (R-Fairbanks) as chair of Fish and Game Subcommittee and Representative Mike Kelly (R-Fairbanks) chairing the Subcommittee on Natural Resources and the Subcommittee for Commerce, Community and Economic Development.
