Sponsor Statement for HB 473

This legislation creates, in the Department of Public Safety, the Alaska Fire Standards Council. It provides for the appointment of members, selection of officers, meetings scheduled, compensation and expenses of the Council. The measure also stipulates the council shall adopt minimum standards for, employment and curriculum requirements for fire service personnel and their certification and establishes and maintains fire service personnel training programs.
