Child Care

This legislation allows an individual on welfare to establish themselves in the business of providing child care, and to the extent that this care is provided to other welfare recipients seeking to enter the work force in a different field, may be considered a part of the individuals "self-sufficiency plan."

The bill recognizes that child care is and important part of the work needed by a healthy society. It broadens the work options of a welfare recipient seeking to become self-sufficient. Recognizing that a child care business with all of its permits and expensive facility requirements exceeds the current eligibility limits, the bill exempts the child care provider from cash asset/earnings limits.
