Legislature Passes Numerous Senate Measures on Day 117
For Immediate Release: May 15, 1999
Juneau -- The Alaska Legislature Saturday passed numerous Senate Bills, including several that have been sent to the Governor before becoming law.
The Senate approved:
SB 167: U of A Scholarships - Alaska Scholars Program
The Senate unanimously approved SB 167, sponsored by Senator Gary Wilken
(R-Fairbanks). SB 167 sets up a scholarship program for students attending
the University of Alaska. SB 167 now goes to the House for consideration.

The House approved:
SB 8: Minimum Required Plumbing Facilities
Senate Bill 8, sponsored by Senator Dave Donley (R-Anchorage). SB 8 changes the
requirement for the number of women's toilet facilities in public buildings.
SB 8 passed 27-8, but will be reconsidered before being sent to the governor.

SB 156: Municipal Classifications and Boundaries
Senate Bill 156, sponsored the Senate Community and Regional Affairs Committee.
SB 156 relates to incorporating municipalities, reclassifying cities, municipal
boundary changes, and dissolution of municipalities. The measure will be taken up
for reconsideration before being sent to the governor.
