Ketchikan-- The Senate Judiciary Committee will review Alaska’s domestic violence and child abuse laws during a hearing in Anchorage to determine whether current laws adequately protect victims. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at the Anchorage Legislative Office at 716 W. 4th Avenue from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Senator Robin Taylor, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, noted that domestic violence and child abuse are significant problems warrenting continual legislative attention.

The committee seeks to build on legislative work accomplished in the 1996 Domestic Violence Prevention Act sponsored by Senator Sean Parnell (R-Anchorage) which received strong bi-partisan support.
