Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Wednesday passed House Bill 18, sponsored by Representative Ramona L. Barnes (R-Anchorage). HB 18 makes a special, one-time appropriation from the Earnings Reserve to the corpus of the Permanent Fund. The bill would make a deposit of $250 million into the principal of the Permanent Fund from the $3.16 billion balance of the Earnings Reserve expected to exist on June 30, 2000. "This one-time deposit will serve the dual purpose of protecting the funds and ensuring the growth of the Permanent Fund," Barnes said. HB 18 passed the House 30-10. Notice of Reconsideration was filed. Attachments:
