Senate Bill 36 -- Education Funding Formula

Juneau – Members of the Senate Finance Committee have scheduled three public hearings for public testimony on Senate Bill 36, the proposed rewrite for Alaska’s public school funding formula. The hearings will be held in the Senate Finance Committee room located on the 5^th floor in the State Capitol in Juneau.

• Thursday, February 26, 1998: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
• Friday, February 27, 1998: 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
• Saturday, February 28, 1998: 10:00 a.m. until done, or until 3:00 p.m. (whichever comes first)

Testimony will be limited to 3 minutes per person. Individuals living outside the area served by a Legislative Information Office (LIO) may testify by calling (800) 478-7612. Anyone may fax written comments to the Senate Finance Committee at (907) 465-2187.

Everyone interested in the education of Alaska’s children will appreciate learning more about this legislation which allocates funding – simply and equitably – on a per student basis, to individual schools.
