Water Quality Standards for Hot Springs

An act relating to Water quality standards applicable to flow-through hot springs.

SB 214 would relax restrictions on flow-through hot springs so that they no longer have to meet the same stringent chlorination and water treatment requirements as swimming pools. Flow-through hot springs are natural or man-made bodies of water that consistently exchange sitting water with water from the natural spring.

This bill addresses the public's desire to have access to natural hot springs free of the heavy chemicals required for pools, while maintaining rigorous testing standards for dangerous disease-causing pathogens and naturally occurring chemicals.
