Amend Uniform Rules: Committee Action on Bills
Proposing amendments to the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature relating to committee meetings; and providing for an effective date.
Released: February 15, 2001
Section 1: Amends Uniform Rule 20(b) to permit standing committees to meet between sessions.
Section 2: Amends Uniform Rule 21(c) to permit a special or joint committee to meet during legislation session or between sessions or both as authorized by the resolution establishing that special committee.
Section 3: Adds a new subsection to Uniform Rule 23 to permit attendance at meetings held during session or interim by teleconference and to vote by teleconference. Permits committees meeting during the interim to consider an act on any matter consistent with the committee's jurisdiction.
Section 4: Amends Uniform Rule 24(a) to provide a procedure for voting by teleconference.
Section 5: Immediate effective date.
