Rep. Wilson Hires Southeast Locals for Capitol Staff For Immediate Release: January 17, 2001 Contact: Representative Peggy Wilson at (907) 465-3824 (JUNEAU) -- Working to ensure the best possible communications with constituents throughout Southeast Alaska, Rep. Peggy Wilson (R-Wrangell) announced today she has hired residents of Sitka, Petersburg and Wrangell to serve on her legislative office staff at the Capitol in Juneau. "It is my pleasure to represent three vital distinct Southeast Alaska communities," said Wilson, who took the oath of office as representative for District 2 on Jan. 8, 2001. "I want to keep my door wide open for communication from all my constituents. That's why I'm pleased to have staffers from Sitka, Petersburg and Wrangell working for their neighbors in their own home towns, as well as in the Capitol."
"I welcome residents of Sitka, Wrangell and Petersburg to contact me at any time, on any issue," said Wilson, who also plans to keep district offices open full time in Sitka, and part time in Wrangell and Petersburg. "Together with Rory, Cindy and Jean, I'll do my best to find answers to your questions and to make sure your voice is heard in Juneau." Recognizing the importance of fishing to Southeast Alaskans, Wilson is co-chair of the Special Committee on Fisheries. She will also serve as vice-chair of the Health, Education and Social Services Committee, and as a member of the State Affairs, Transportation and the Special Committee on Education.
