(JUNEAU) - Rep. Andrew Halcro (R-Anchorage) today reaffirmed his commitment as a Republican state legislator, calling recent media speculation he might run for lieutenant governor as a Democrat misguided and false.

"Wednesday's report from an Anchorage news program completely mischaracterized my comments about any potential future election plans I might have, " Halcro said. "I am not considering switching parties, nor have I ever entertained the idea of abandoning the Republican Party, and any statement to the contrary is absolutely false."

Halcro said he looks forward to continuing his work both as a member of the House Republican Majority and of the Fiscal Policy Caucus, to represent the concerns of his District 12 constituents and to seek long-term solutions to the fiscal challenges facing the state of Alaska.
