Open House at Legislative Information Office
Senator Austerman and Representative Stevens Welcome Constituents

(KODIAK) -- Senator Alan Austerman (R-Kodiak/Southeast Islands) and Representative Gary Stevens (District Six) invite the public to the Legislative Information Office, 112 Mill Bay Road, on Thursday, December 27, 2001 from 2 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"This open house is an opportunity for us to hear from folks before we leave for Juneau," Senator Austerman said. Alan and Gary will be leaving for Juneau soon, as the second session of the 22nd Legislature begins January 14th.

Any legislation that was introduced last session or bills introduced this next session must go through the committee process and be passed by both the House and the Senate prior to the close of session in May. All bills and resolutions "die" at the end of the 2nd session, so it is imperative that the local delegation hears from constituents who have an interest in a particular subject matter.

"Between legislation and budgetary concerns, this session will be present many challenges," Representative Stevens said. Stevens continued by saying, "Both Alan and I value letters, emails and public opinion messages when we are in Juneau. They really can make a difference."
