"I will work together with Senator Gary Stevens (R-Kodiak) to ensure they remain viable. My hope is that we can obtain a couple more badly needed projects for our district in the Senate versions."
- Rep. Ogg
(JUNEAU) - Representative Dan Ogg (R-Kodiak) has successfully inserted several projects for Kodiak and the community of Port Alsworth in the Lake and Peninsula Borough into two separates pieces of legislation.
Often working past midnight over the last week, Rep. Ogg concluded negotiations on a string of projects for Kodiak that were introduced last night on the House floor. "As legislative leaders were constructing various funding needs across the state, I noticed there was nothing in any of these packages for Kodiak and the Lake and Pen portion of the district. I immediately went to work with community leaders and the House Finance Committee to ensure that our district was taken care of," said Rep. Ogg.
Here is a list of the additional projects and the bills that contain these items.
$510,000 for the FITC - Renovations and improvements
$662,000 for the Kodiak College - Benny Benson Building learning center expansion
$363,000 for the Port Alsworth Library - Renovation and reconfiguration
$237,000 for the Kodiak Is. Borough - Kodiak Middle School concrete repair
When asked his opinion on the chances of these projects getting through the legislature, Rep. Ogg responded in the following manner: "These projects will live or die in the Senate. I will work together with Senator Gary Stevens (R-Kodiak) to ensure they remain viable. My hope is that we can obtain a couple more badly needed projects for our district in the Senate versions," said Ogg. "As always, we need your help to comment on why these projects are so valuable for our district. Please call Senator Stevens to let him know your feelings."
The House sent these proposals over to the Senate early this morning for their action.
