Juneau - Representative Beverly Masek (R-Willow) will travel to Palmer to speak before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on Monday. Testimony begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Mat-Su Borough Assembly Chamber. Masek, who will be third to testify, says she will focus on Alaska transportation needs and issues.
"It's time for Alaskans to have the roads and bridges they deserve," Masek said. "We have the greatest distances to cover in this state, and we need get from here to there as quickly as possible."
Among the projects Masek plans to promote to the committee are: an expansion of the Parks Highway to four lanes from Wasilla to Willow, reconstruction of the Old Glenn Highway to Palmer, and the Knik Arm Bridge from Anchorage to Point MacKenzie.
"Federal assistance is crucial to making these projects a reality," Masek said. "Making the committee understand that importance is the first step.
