HB 328: Ban Mixing Zones in Spawning Areas

Representative LeDoux is a prime co-sponsor on this bill. It was passed out of the House Special Committee on Fisheries on 1/30/2006. It is now awaiting a hearing in the House Resources Committee. HB 420: Forest Resources & Practices Standards

This bill passed out of the House Special Committee on Fisheries yesterday and is awaiting a committee substitute to take care of a few typos. This piece of legislation does not impact Kodiak, as it is addressing Region II (Interior Spruce/Hardwood, South of the Alaska Range-Palmer, Anchorage & Soldotna) The bill incorporates recommendations made after a scientific review. FYI, Region I (Coastal Sitka Spruce/Hemlock-Kodiak, Haines, Juneau & Ketchikan) riparian standards were updated in 1999. The next committee of referral is House Resources.

Upcoming Events

Comfish is scheduled for March 16th, 17th & 18th this year in Kodiak. The Gubernatorial Candidates' Debate is scheduled for March 16th, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium.
