(JUNEAU) - The Alaska House of Representatives confirmed Kodiak resident Dan Ogg as the new representative for House District 36 today. Ogg fills the seat that Sen. Gary Stevens vacated upon his appointment to the Senate. Ogg, 53, has lived in Kodiak since 1974 and is executive director of Alaskan Oceans Seas and Fisheries Research Foundation.
"I'm quite honored to be selected for this position," Ogg said. "I look forward to representing the people of Kodiak and the Alaska Peninsula as well as promoting the interests of all Alaskans."
Ogg is also an adjunct professor at the Kodiak campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage, a commercial fisherman, and a member of the Alaska Bar Association. He served on the local Draft Board from 1982 to 2002 and on the Board of Regents of the University of Alaska from 1993 to 2001.
"Representative Ogg has a broad background and a wealth of information," House Speaker Pete Kott (R-Eagle River) said. "He is a welcome addition to the House that once again has a full membership."
Ogg will serve on the House Judiciary, Fisheries, Education, and Transportation Committees.
