(JUNEAU) - The Alaska State Legislature confirmed 21 appointees from the Murkowski Administration today. House Speaker Pete Kott (R-Eagle River) and Senate President Gene Therriault (R-North Pole) directed the Joint Session that filled most of the governor's cabinet.
"This is the earliest that I can recall that we've confirmed commissioners," Kott said. "Generally the confirmation process occurs two or three days before the end of the session. It sends the administration the message that we're cooperating to make this a productive relationship."
"I am pleased that we had such a smooth confirmation process and that we were able to confirm the governor's appointees early on," said Therriault. "Now with his cabinet in place we can all get down to dealing with other issues, such as the budget."
