(Juneau) - Representative Vic Kohring (R-Wasilla) announced today that his Wasilla Office will reopen on Wednesday, June 14, 2006. "Even if the special session extends beyond the June 8th adjournment, I feel the most important thing right now is to have a presence at home," Kohring said.
"The office will be staffed this year by a new face; Jim Pound who has been staff to several legislators, and a former Lieutenant Governor will bring his experience to the office this year. "I look forward to having Jim on board. He has experience, not only as a legislative aide, but has worked with several legislative committees including Resources, Finance, Judiciary, and Administrative Regulation Review. He has also worked with state agencies on behalf of constituents with a good record of opening dialog that had previously been closed", Kohring added.
If the legislature does convene for another special session, Representative Kohring will continue to work in Juneau until a resolution is found. Commenting on still being in Juneau, Kohring said, "I would much rather be at home right now, and certainly would have preferred being in my Wasilla office a month ago. That however was just not going to happen this year, because of the extensive detailed work on the proposed gas pipeline. This is the job all legislators sign up for, and I will always do what is required to serve the people of District 14 and Alaska."
The Wasilla Office will be opened Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
