(JUNEAU) - Rep. Vic Kohring (R-Wasilla/Mat-Su) has announced he will chair his fourth constituent meeting of the legislative session, to again seek input from his community on issues as they relate to the Legislature. Kohring plans to direct the meeting from his capitol building office in Juneau, calling in to Wasilla using the state’s teleconference network. A staff member of Kohring’s will be present to assist with the event.
The meeting, an open forum, will take place in the conference room of the Wasilla Legislative Information Office, on Saturday, April 16, 2005, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The address is 600 E. Railroad Avenue in Wasilla, next to L & B Color Printing.
"This is on ongoing effort on my part to be accessible to those I represent," said Kohring. Kohring said that with the session nearing a conclusion, he and his legislative colleagues are not permitted to leave Juneau (with the exception of emergencies) to travel to their home districts, because of critical votes on legislation. However, he said he wishes to stay in touch, even if it is via teleconference. "It’s important that I know what people's thoughts are on the budget and the numerous bills before us, as it helps me do my job better." Kohring added, "Such feedback helps me more clearly understand my community's needs."
Kohring said he welcomes all interested individuals to attend, and encourages their participation.
