"I look forward to continuing my role as chairman of this committee."
- Rep. Kohring
(WASILLA) - Representative Vic Kohring (R-Wasilla/Mat-Su) was selected by his colleagues Friday as Chairman of the House Special Committee on Oil & Gas.
"I look forward to continuing my role as chairman of this committee," said Kohring, who will serve his second straight term as chairman in the 24th Alaska State Legislature.
"The committee worked very hard the last two years and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in terms of Alaska's future oil and gas potential," Kohring said. "We were able to pass key legislation in the 23rd Legislature that will help spur further oil and gas development in Alaska such as the Stranded Gas Act and drilling incentives."
Kohring said the Oil & Gas Committee's primary focus will be on promoting construction of the natural gas pipeline. "The gas pipeline will be the centerpiece of our state's economy for years to come," he said.
Kohring, recently elected to his sixth term in the House of Representatives, will also serve on the Transportation and Economic Development, Trade & Tourism Committees.
