(Juneau) - Sen. Charlie Huggins (R - Rural Mat-Su/Chugiak) will be the guest speaker at the 2006 Matanuska Electric Association Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 2nd at Chugiak High School in Chugiak. The theme of this year's meeting is honoring active duty military personnel and veterans.
Sen. Huggins will present several Blue Star Banners to veterans, and to families with a family member who served in Iraq. Blue Star Banners are a time-honored way to thank veterans and families for their service to our country.
The Senator will also have details on the Vietnam War Memorial known as "The Moving Wall" that will be in seven different Alaskan communities this summer. The Wall serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Vietnam veterans.
There will be a brief video presentation available for viewing, as well, to show scenes of some of the men and women serving in the U.S. Military in Iraq.
