- Rep. Elkins
(Juneau) - Ketchikan International Airport has been awarded federal grants totaling $760,000 for several pieces of new heavy equipment, including a loader at $285,000, a grader at $250,000, and truck plow and sander at $225,000. Alaska's Congressional Delegation announced the grants earlier today.
The Ketchikan grants were included in a federal grant package totaling $10.6 million for Alaska groups and communities.
From his office in Juneau, Representative Jim Elkins of Ketchikan said, "Great! Our airport needed and deserved new and quality equipment to ensure the safety of those traveling to and from Ketchikan. Our community, which depends so much on our airport, appreciates the efforts of all the borough, state and federal staff members who made this possible."
