"Approximately $120,000 per month is put back into our Ketchikan economy by the seniors who receive the longevity bonus."
- Rep. Elkins
(JUNEAU) - Earlier this week Representative Jim Elkins (R-Ketchikan) signed on in support of House Bill 39, a bill to appropriate funding to restore the Longevity Bonus Program.
"I'm a longtime advocate for senior citizens," Representative Elkins said. "Approximately $120,000 per month is put back into our Ketchikan economy by the seniors who receive the longevity bonus. The average senior dollar will turn over three times in the community. Restoring this funding is essential, not only for the benefit of our seniors, but also for the economy of the state of Alaska."
