"The legislation limits the program to schools already operating boarding schools on January 1, 2004."
- Rep. Coghill
"An Act relating to funding for school districts operating secondary school boarding programs, to funding for school districts from which boarding students come, and to inoperative school districts; and providing for an effective date."
This legislation by statute reimburses to secondary boarding schools costs incurred by the district operating the program. There are six boarding schools that would qualify for reimbursement for a per-pupil stipend and one round trip between the student's community of residence and the school during the school year if the district expends money for the trip. The legislation limits the program to schools already operating boarding schools on January 1, 2004.
The hold harmless section of this bill allows the student's district of residence to count a student for the ADM count even though the student is attending a secondary boarding school but avoids the possibility of paying twice the base student allocation for the same student.
