(Juneau) - House Finance Committee Co-Chair Representative Mike Chenault (R-Nikiski) has brought up an amendment to HB 362 that would provide additional funds to implement the first quarter of the cost differential, as determined by the ISER School District Cost Study.

The Committee took up HB 362 this afternoon and heard public testimony from around the state. Co-Chair Chenault informed the Committee of his intention to drop the amendment at the appropriate time.

"The issue has been studied and while there may be disagreement on the numbers, the fact remains there is a problem. The time is now. This has been an 8 year process; now is the time to step up and start addressing the issue," said Representative Chenault.

HB 362 is still before the Committee.
